Dental Crown
A dental crown is used to restore the shape, appearance and the function of a damaged or decayed tooth. The dental crown is made of ceramic as this material most resembles a natural tooth. CEREC technology is used to make the crown and can be done either in-office or in the laboratory.

What is a dental crown?
Why would I need a crown?
Dental Crown
A dental crown is a solid shell that covers a natural tooth permanently. It is usually made of porcelain, although other materials may be used. They come in all the shapes, colours and sizes of a tooth so that they blend in with the rest of your teeth.
Crowns are used for several cases:
- To restore a broken or severely worn tooth
- To cover a malformed or acutely discoloured tooth
- To cover, solidify and protect a tooth with a large filling
- To restore a tooth after a root canal
- To reinforce a cracked tooth or one weakened by decay
- Crowns generally last between 5 and 20 years depending on materials used, dental hygiene, eating habits and lifestyle.
Many crowns are made in labs, requiring two trips to the dentist: the first, for a fitting that is then sent to the lab, and a second for placement of the permanent crown.
Our clinic offers you the opportunity to do it all with one appointment! Leveraging the technology of a CEREC camera, we specially produce the crown in our clinic for immediate placement. Here’s to doing it in one go!
